About
Not a club!… A group of great people tired of listening to other people waste energy arguing Roberts Rules of Order. Some facts:
- We are people that do things, not just talk about them and wait for the next person to do them.
- We are active in teaching classes, Field Day, and almost all modes of operation.
- We help others in the radio hobby checking equipment, and putting up towers and antennas.
- We don’t set too long, we keep moving. When you are in town toss out your call… I’m sure you will be in a QSO in no time, we always have time to chat for a while.
- Our Repeater is located very close to I-275 and 54th Ave North.
- The name is derived from phonetics Alpha Alpha. If you say alphalpha quickly it sounds like Alfalfa, hence the logo.
- We sponsored W4Z Cunningham Key Station and contributed to the Peter I DXpedition fund.
- Some of our people were deployed to Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina, and to Broward County, Florida after Hurricane Wilma as part of Florida SERT (State Emergency Response Team).
- Many in the Group belong to LEALMAN Special Fire Control District CERT (Community Emergency Response Team). Four are Certified to “Train The Trainer” for IS-317 FEMA Course.
- We were at the Tierra Verde Lighthouse NA1335 from December 8th thru the 11th 2006 for the first time activation of the first privately held lighthouse built on the west coast of Florida in 54 years.
