CQ FIELD DAY! W4A 5A WCF

June 30th, 2008 | Category: Activities

Field Day 2008 is in the history books. It was ARG’s 3rd Field Day and our largest turn out yet. Group participation was high, the Lealman CERT turnout was fantastic, and the public turn out was great too.

We made many contacts this year (points scored this year were higher than the previous two years combined) and several hams made their first HF contacts.

The weather at Fort DeSoto was great. Saturday evening the wind picked up to around 25 to 30 knots, and we had to secure small items in the camp. Despite this, the trailer tower was solid and didn’t budge.

The food was abundant and excellent. Thanks again to Lealman CERT for providing lunch, and special thanks to Udo & MJ, Rick & Tracy for all of your hard work keeping the Alphalphas fed (a full-time job).

Finally, thanks to all for the camaraderie and friendship, as always it was a great time.

Field Day! Fort DeSoto! June 28-29

June 27th, 2008 | Category: Activities,General

Set-up begins at 8AM, Saturday June 28.  We begin operating at 2PM on Saturday and continue until 2PM Sunday June 29.

HOW TO GET THERE! : Go by the boat ramp and camp grounds…turn right at the big flag pole onto Anderson Blvd.

Entrance

You will see a sign that says Historic Fort and Fishing Pier right before the stone gate supports. Turn left on that road.

Sign

Follow the paved road…it will bend sharp to the right.

Watch on your left for a sand road with a sign that says “Park Dept. Vehicles Only”. Turn onto the sand road and follow it for a short distance and you will be in the set up area. Please stay on the mowed grass!

The road will bend right toward the Gulf of Mexico…

There will be an Osprey Nest on a pole to your left on the sand road… we must keep away or Ranger Bob will have a fit. :)

We will monitor our repeater (145.310 PL 103.5) and 147.550 simplex inside the park.  Hope to see you there!
