Hello all! This is N4MAA’s son, Michael WW. Last Saturday I passed my technician class exam (with the help of the study materials found here). This morning my new call sign appeared in the ULS. I wanted to drop a quick hello and intro, and to say thanks. I’m not a local, but I look forward to meeting the “Alphalphas” when I visit in June.

Lealman CERT has invited the Alphalphas’ to lunch Saturday noon on June 28, as part of Field Day setup; at the shelter just past the rest rooms (I believe chicken is on the menu). They will supply lunch for us and the CERT Group as a thank you for our efforts in helping Lealman CERT train for their amateur radio license and in operating procedures.
After lunch maybe we should give some guided tours for the CERT Members that are not familiar with amateur radio… show off antennas, radios, and they can see what is involved in setting up emergency communications. It is a shame we don’t need the ladder tower this year (Udo has another 6 meter set up)… it is an excellent demonstration of MacGuyverism.

This Thursday is Biff Burger around 6:30 PM. There will be major discussions about “Field Day” preparations… it will be here before we know it. I urge everyone planning on attending Field Day to show up and put in your $0.02 in.
My 2 cents is we get there earlier than normal so Udo can get the pig cooking… we can get everything set up, kick back and enjoy the lunch. I am sure we won’t feel like doing anything after lunch except setting down and operating.
Andy KI4VOS will run 15 meters, MJ N2MJP 6 Meters, and the rest of us can switch back and fourth as long as we check with the other stations.
Don’t forget we must ID once every hour with N4MAA then continue using the special call “W4A”. We will have a simple script to follow and it is not hard to do (I can even do it).
