Tower on Trailer
Thanks to Bob Payne KI4QJG the tower mounted on the trailer will be done by field day. A few of you met Bob and his wife at Biff Burger at one of our meetings. Bob volunteered his services so we took him up on it. I will owe him dinner for a long time.
So when your meet Bob give him a big hand or hug for getting the tower on the trailer. It will have a 10, 15, & 20 Meter beam ready to get those contacts.

Amateur Extra Exam Math Equations
No commentsI designed this document as an aid for reviewing the mathematics necessary to solve the exam questions. It does not cover the mathematical or electrical theories behind the equations. To study the theory, I highly recommend The ARRL Extra Class License Manual and Gordon West’s Extra Class FCC License Preparation for Element 4. Both of these publications were of great help to me in preparing for my Amateur Extra Class exam.

No commentsFree Testing, Clearwater Amateur Radio Society
The second Monday of each month is the CARS FREE test session. CARS test sessions are open to the public. You don’t need to be a member to participate. Taking a Ham radio class? If they tell you testing is $14 dollars, tell them thanks but no thanks. We’ll test you for free. Use the money you save towards a radio, an antenna, or even to join local ham club.
Monthly testing sessions are held at the Salvation Army Facility, 1625 North Belcher Road Clearwater, next to The Long Center. Sessions begin at 7:15 P.M. and will end no later than 9:30 P.M. Please bring a photo ID, your original and 1 (one) copy of your license, any certificates of successful completion (CSCEs) or other document that you will using to show element credit. Scratch paper, pens, and pencils will be provided. You may bring a calculator. However, if you bring your own calculator and it is a programmable calculator it must be un-programmed. In other words, the memory must be cleared. Blackberries, Palm Pilots, or other devices that have a calculator function are never permitted.
For more information about The Clearwater Amateur Radio Society (CARS) please visit our web site. It contains general information about club activities and our FREE testing program. If you would like to support FREE testing and the other worthy club activities CARS members participate in, an online membership application is available on our web page. If you are an extra class licensee and would like to participate in our Free test sessions, please contact me about becoming a volunteer examiner.

• If your wife calls and asks you to bring home a ham and you show up with one of your radio friends… you might be a ham!
• If you go canoeing with your buddies they ask you to bring the paddles and you show up with your Vibroplex… you might be a ham!
• If the phone rings and you answer this is AI4QP over… you might be a ham!
• If your back yard looks like and aluminum Porcupine… you might be a ham!
• If you have to explain to your spouse that a Hamfest is not a barbecue… you might be a ham!
• If your car has more than two antennas on it… you might be a ham!
• If you are asked to show two pieces of I.D. and you present a copy of your Amateur License and your ARRL card… you might be a ham!
• If you are afraid to pull into a parking garage because of antennas on your roof… you might be a ham!
• If someone asks you what your favorite radio station is and you say W1AW… you might be a ham!
• If you go to a boxing match and they start talking about fists and you bring up the fact that you just got your keynote… you might be a ham.
• When the guys at the marina talk about their Chriscraft and you bring up your Cushcraft… you might be a ham!
• If your wife tells you she would like a Diamond for Christmas and you give her an antenna or a really good ARRL Membership…you’re in some deep trouble !!!
